iGP were contacted by this restaurant at the Corinthia Hotel in central London to address the problem of overheating, particularly during the summer months. Customers were choosing to be seated away from the direct sunlight coming through the large arch windows which, in turn, meant that the manager was never able to fill the restaurant.

The client's requirement was to reduce heat coming in from the windows without using the existing interior blinds - which would have blocked out a lot of natural light.

It was an important requirement of the client that the film didn't change the appearance of the building. iGP selected a transparent film manufactured by SolarGard ("LX70"), which can reduce heat penetration through glass by up to 45%, without changing the appearance of the windows. In addition, given the restaurant's central location and therefore higher risk of exposure to the threat of terrorism, iGP applied an 8 Mil film, which increased its strength to 200 Micron Class A film, therefore meeting government safety regulations for glass protection in the event of an explosion.

Finally, iGP produced some figures for the client demonstrating how the cost of this film installation would effectively be met by the savings made through decreased use of the air-conditioning system. iGP had tailored a solution to ensure that the prestige and reputation of this fine restaurant were maintained at the highest level.
