Following the withdrawal of a number of "bendy buses" from some of its London routes, the transport Group, Arriva, shipped around 60 of the vehicles to the popular tourist location, Malta.

Originally built for London service, the vehicles had not been fitted with air conditioning, and this was an issue that needed to be addressed now that the vehicles were to be operating in a much hotter climate.

Arriva contacted iGP (who already supplies and installs anti-graffiti film to all Arriva vehicles throughout the UK) for a solution to this problem. The most effective application was a highly reflective window film which reflects both sunlight and heat, thereby reducing the heat gain by over 80%. iGP sent an 8-man team to Malta to complete the installation over a ten day period.

This installation has proved very successful, and is a clear example of how this type of film is an extremely effective solution to overheating in vehicles - and at a fraction of the cost of an air conditioning system.
